Student Resources

Here at the John Godber Company, we are dedicated to helping students understand more about our plays and help them further their studies.

Below you can find resources we have made available to students about our plays.

  • Bouncers

Lucky Eric, Judd, Les and Ralph are the original men in black as they tell the tale of one night in a Yorkshire disco in the 80’s in this outrageous parody of Saturday Night Fever! All the gang are out on the town, the boys, the girls, the cheesy DJ, the late night kebab man and the taxi home, all under the watchful eyes of the Bouncers.

  • Teechers

Join Gail, Hobby and Salty, three fifth form students who, through their end of term play, tell the hilarious story of an idealistic new teacher in his perilous first days inside a local comprehensive school.

  • Shakers

A play Made in Hull and exported worldwide. Carol, Adele, Niki and Mel work in a bar that is worse than hell! Welcome to the 80s, where every town has its Shakers, the oh so trendy cocktail bar where everyone wants to be seen, from the checkout girls to the chinless wonders, from the luvvies to the local lads tittering at the thought of a “long slow comfortable screw”.

  • Moby Dick

Performed by eight vibrant and talented local actors and musicians, including the Godber Theatre Foundation member Caitlin Townend, this production had references to Hull's maritime history and contemporary discussions regarding oceanic conservation, and was performed to socially distanced audiences across 12 nights in the open summer air.

If you are a teacher and would like to request a live recording of this production, please email contact@johngodberco.co.uk
