Shakers at East Riding Theatre

A popular classic for over thirty years, Shakers is coming to East Riding Theatre!

The beautiful Beverley venue will host a show that has been exported worldwide, from Dubai to Bratislava, from Scandinavia to LA. A play very much Made In Hull, yet it proved so popular in Prague that it has played in rep there for the past twelve years, and it’s still running!

The hilarious comedy follows Carol, Adele, Niki and Mel as they serve customers in the bar from hell. Shakers is the trendy cocktail spot where everyone wants to be seen, from the checkout girls to the chinless wonders, from the luvvies to the local lads tittering at the thought of a “long slow comfortable screw”.

A wickedly funny glimpse of the world as seen through the eyes of the four long-suffering waitresses, Shakers offers a fascinating view of the reality that lurks behind the plastic palms and the Pina Coladas.

This new John Godber Company production at the East Riding Theatre brings a classic play to life with an entirely East Yorkshire cast: Amy Thompson (Channel 5’s Milkshake, The Last Laugh feature film), Laura Aramayo (Coronation Street), Annie Kirkman (She Productions Theatre Company), and Kate Huntsman, who recently finished Four Thieves’ Vinegar at Barons Court Theatre in London.

The show runs from 26 April until 20 May at East Riding Theatre. Specialist matinees and prices for schools are available due to the popularity of the play, which is widely studied at GCSE and A-level.

To book, please call the box office on 01482 874050, or you can book online.
